Services to help you regain or maintain your independence.

Independent Living (IL) services are available to consumers of any age, any disability, and any income level, who want to maximize their independence.  

IL specialists help you identify barriers to your independence, develop personal goals and a step-by-step plan to meet them.  

 

The 5 core services include:

Information and Referral
Information about resources available to help you achieve your personal goals; referral to other WIL programs or other agencies as appropriate

Skills Training
Training in alternate techniques to help you accomplish activities of daily living such as cooking, cleaning, grooming, mobility, and more

Peer Support
Opportunities to connect with others who have tackled similar challenges to their independence

Systems Advocacy
Counseling on your rights as a person with a disability and support in advocating for yourself, or for systemic change where needed

Transition Services
Specialized assistance and support groups for youth as they transition into the community, the workforce or higher education.

 

Additional services may include:

Home Modification
Evaluation and recommendation of home modifications for your personal safety and mobility

Adaptive Equipment
Evaluation and recommendation of equipment or technologies to help you accomplish your goals

Benefits Counseling
Help navigating through benefits systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Social Security & Disability

 

Eligibility

1. Resident in the eastern half of Wyoming

2. A disability that interferes with activities of daily living

Youth Advisory Council

WIL is looking for youth with disabilities ages 14-24 who have a strong desire to be involved in their community, develop leadership skills, and act as peer mentors.  If you know someone who would be interested, please encourage them to apply!
