WILR Board Member Responsibilities

Determining the required number and types of employees.

Determining job classification content

Approving the recommendations of the Executive Director on the disciplining, suspending, and dismissing of employees.

Expanding or diminishing services.

Subcontracting any work of operations.

Establishing and changing policy governing methods of operation.

Conducting internal inquiries into matters affecting management policies and practices.

Prescribing forms and procedures for use in matters of personnel.

Having access to all personnel records.

Hiring, evaluating, supervising, and dismissing the Executive Director.

Disclosing all conflicts of or incompatibility of interest matters for public record.

Refraining from discussing and voting in conflicts of or incompatibility of interest matters.

Taking all necessary actions to perform its functions in emergencies.

WILR Board of Directors shall meet every other month (or more frequently, if needed) to review agency functions, fiscal accountability, and to initiate program development. All Board meetings are public. An annual Board of Directors meeting shall be held in December of each year to review the agency's financial status, goals and objectives, and to elect officers.

The Board of Directors works in partnership with it Executive Director: the board governs and the Executive Director manages the operations. Together they provide leadership and offer each other the support necessary to accomplish the aims of the organization.
