Transportation Voucher Program

Provides transportation accessibility to consumers with disabilities and who have a barrier to transportation by building a network with existing transit programs, riders, and volunteer drivers.

The consumer can choose between existing public transportation like the Senior Citizens bus or a volunteer driver of his/her choice. Volunteer drivers may not be a spouse and must have a current drivers licenses along with proper vehicle tags, license and insurance. All participate drivers, whether public or private, receive a voucher from the consumer with the total number of trip miles written down. The voucher is then submitted by the driver to WILR for reimbursement. All drivers receive $.34 per mile.

Eligibility

  • Consumers with a disability and a barrier to transportation..

  • Residing in Converse, Goshen, Platte or Niobrara County.

  • (In some cases consumers of Project Out may be eligible.)

Services Provided

  • A voucher system used to pay either volunteer drivers or existing public transportation systems.

  • Vouchers are sent to WILR for reimbursement.
