Driver-Laramie (Part-Time)
The work of Wyoming Independent Living is grounded in the Independent Living (IL) philosophy which maintains that persons with disabilities are the best judges of their service needs and how to receive those services. The Independent Living Program assists persons who have a disability to develop self-reliance and independence so that they can participate fully in the communities where they live.
Wyoming Independent Living is currently seeking a Part-Time Driver. This is a provisional PRN position, with a variable schedule of up to 15 hours per week. Additional hours may be scheduled as needed. The principal responsibilities for this position include:
Drive staff to scheduled appointments. Provide friendly, prompt, door-to-door, round trip service. Provide support to include lifting and carrying equipment, as needed.
Applicants interested in being considered for this position should meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Flexibility in scheduling of hours for driving.
- Operates a low-profile vehicle without sidesteps for accessibility
- A valid driver’s license with no more than two moving violations and/or at-fault accidents on driving record in the past three years.
- Must complete a background check with results satisfactory to WIL, including but not limited to criminal history, motor vehicle records, and sex offender registry.
- Must have knowledge of relevant traffic laws and safe motor vehicle operation.
- Must have the ability to read, understand, and follow route directions and maps.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Expected hours: No more than 15 per week

Transportation Specialist-Casper (Full-Time)

IL services are intended to assist consumers to attain the highest degree of independence and self-reliance possible.
Wyoming Independent Living is responsible for providing the five core services of a Center for Independent Living:

Information and referral (I & R)

Independent living skills training

Personal and systems advocacy

Peer support, and
-
Transition services to youth and adults

The Transportation Specialist works with consumers to develop Individualized Transportation Plans that reflect the consumers’ transportation needs, goals, and preferences. Program Specialists work with consumers to ensure compliance with program rules. The Transportation Specialist will work with area providers, human services agencies, and state agencies to coordinate transportation services in their district and beyond. The Specialist will also document their work in service records and reports to the Program Manager. The Specialists are expected to network with agencies and transportation providers, conduct community outreach, and education activities throughout their designated service area to promote WIL services and enhance transportation options.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

Performing comprehensive consumer visits to establish individual transportation goals and plans to increase independence

Prioritize and organize workload and schedule

Ensuring that consumers function within the program rules and guidelines

Maintaining accurate and timely consumer records
-
Preparing reports and completing agency paperwork within established deadlines

Conducting community outreach and education activities
-
Promoting interagency collaboration to improve service delivery systems for people with disabilities

Traveling throughout the designated district to meet with consumers and other stakeholders
-
Participating in staff training and related conferences/conventions

Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in social services or related field preferred
-
Personal experience with a disability is preferred
-
Ability to enter/exit consumer homes, nursing homes, hospitals, and other community organizations

Understanding and commitment to the IL philosophy

Self-starter, organized, and capable of working independently

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively and work effectively with others

Good oral and written communication skills
-
Basic computer skills in web-based and PC software, email, fax, and copier

Reliable vehicle to travel within designated service area
